Terra Classic

The original company, Terraform Labs, no longer runs the chain, and its co-founder Do Kwon was sentenced to 15 years for fraud in December 2025. Community developers maintain the classic-terra/core software: they shipped v4.0.0 (a Cosmos SDK upgrade) in March 2026, a mandatory fix for a critical smart-contract vulnerability on 14 September 2026 and a rolling release v4.0.2 on 28 September. Funding and depth of the team are not documented.

Terraform Labs and Do Kwon agreed in 2024 to pay about $4.47 billion to settle the SEC's fraud case. CoinGecko still shows the original Terra backers' portfolio tags, but no current institutional holder, fund or exchange-traded product was found. LUNC is not on Kazakhstan's April 2026 authorised list.

On-chain supply was about 6.45 trillion LUNC on 1 October 2026, the result of the 2022 collapse. Inflation is zero and a 1.5% burn tax on transactions removes coins, but against such a large supply burns cut it only slowly. About 906.8 billion LUNC, about 14% of supply, was staked.

The chain keeps producing blocks (height 30,650,390 on 1 October 2026) under a community validator set, with slashing for misbehaviour. Data on transactions, fees and applications on Terra Classic is insufficient; trading is dominated by futures, which were about 79% of LUNC volume on Binance and Bybit on 1 October 2026.
