About Gala

Gala is a blockchain entertainment ecosystem for games, music and film; GALA is the gas and utility token of its GalaChain network.

Gala was founded in 2019 by Zynga co-founder Eric Schiermeyer. It began with blockchain games and added Gala Music and Gala Film. All of them run on GalaChain, its own layer-1 blockchain, which also hosts a token exchange (Gala Swap) and a tool for launching new tokens (Gala Pump).

GALA pays transaction fees on GalaChain and is used to purchase items inside the ecosystem. Gala never held an ICO: new GALA is issued only as daily rewards to operators of Founder’s Nodes, the 50,000 community-run nodes that support the network and vote on key decisions. About 50.4 billion GALA circulate. In April 2026 node operators voted to replace the 50 billion cap with a declining emission rate and to burn half of all gas fees.

On 18 August 2026 an automated attacker exploited a signature flaw and moved about 2.0 billion GALA out of nine wallets. Gala paused its bridge and deployed a fix the same morning.
