About Bitcoin SV

Bitcoin SV is a proof-of-work fork of Bitcoin Cash that aims for very large blocks for payments and on-chain data.

Bitcoin SV (BSV) split from Bitcoin Cash in November 2018, a year after Bitcoin Cash split from Bitcoin. 'SV' stands for 'Satoshi Vision': the project says it follows the original Bitcoin design and wants to scale it with very large blocks, for cheap payments and for storing data on-chain.

BSV works like Bitcoin. Miners secure it with SHA-256 proof of work and earn new coins and fees. The supply is capped at 21 million coins, of which about 20.09 million existed on 1 October 2026. There was no premine or token sale: BCH holders received BSV at the fork.

The BSV Association coordinates the node software. In April 2026 the Chronicle upgrade restored older Bitcoin script features, and Teranode, a new node design aimed at over one million transactions per second, has been released and is being phased in.

BSV has a contested history. Its best-known backer, Craig Wright, claimed to be Bitcoin's creator; a UK court ruled in March 2024 that he is not and that he forged documents. Binance delisted BSV in 2019, and the network suffered block reorganisation attacks in 2021.
