About ApeCoin
ApeCoin (APE) is the token of the Bored Ape Yacht Club ecosystem and the gas token of ApeChain, a Layer-3 network on Arbitrum.
ApeCoin (APE) launched in March 2022 as the token of the Bored Ape Yacht Club community created by Yuga Labs. It gives access to the Otherside virtual world and is used in community events and apps.
APE is also the gas token of ApeChain, an Optimistic Layer-3 network that settles on Arbitrum One. Apps on ApeChain include games, NFT markets, exchanges and a parlay betting platform. All 1 billion APE are in circulation.
ApeCoin was first governed by a DAO. According to press reports, the DAO was dissolved in June 2025 and replaced by a company, ApeCo, linked to Yuga Labs. On 1 October 2026 APE traded more than 99% below its 2022 high.
