About Theta Network

THETA is the staking and governance token of Theta Network, a blockchain and GPU edge network for AI, video and media.

Theta Network has two parts: a blockchain that runs smart contracts, and an edge network of computers that share GPU power. Its EdgeCloud platform, launched in May 2024, rents this computing power for AI and video work, for clients such as sports clubs and universities.

The network has two tokens. THETA, with a fixed supply of 1 billion, is staked by validator and guardian nodes that secure the chain. TFUEL pays for operations and grows by a fixed percentage each year; stakers earn the new TFUEL.

Blocks are finalised by 20–30 enterprise validators, including Google, Samsung and Sony Europe, and checked by thousands of community guardian nodes. Theta Labs, the company behind the network, held about 48% of staked THETA before announcing in August 2026 that it would unstake 30 million THETA to fund growth.
