Starknet

Starknet is built by StarkWare, which runs the STARK proof system it pioneered. Development continues across fees, staking and privacy: fees moved fully to STRK in September 2025, wrapped-bitcoin staking started in Q3 2025, and the shielded strkBTC wrapper launched on 12 May 2026. Decentralisation lags: StarkWare controls the five sequencers and staking is only in phase two of four.

CoinGecko tags Starknet as backed by Paradigm, Sequoia, Pantera, Polychain, Coinbase Ventures, Multicoin and Consensys. At launch early contributors received 20.04%, investors 18.17% and StarkWare 10.76% of STRK. STRK is not on Kazakhstan's April 2026 authorised list. Data on exchange-traded products and regulated fund holders is insufficient.

Early contributors and investors unlock up to 127 million STRK on the 15th of every month until 15 March 2027. On top of the initial 10 billion, staking rewards are newly minted along a curve with a 4% inflation coefficient. CoinGecko showed about 7.42 billion STRK circulating on 1 October 2026. Demand comes from fees, which since September 2025 are paid only in STRK.

L2BEAT showed about $459.39 million of value secured on 1 October 2026, of which 36.4% was STRK itself, and rates Starknet Stage 1. By Liberandum's sum of DefiLlama data, about half of the roughly $237 million in Starknet DeFi sat in the Extended perpetuals exchange and about 21% in BTC staking pools. Data on daily transactions and fee revenue is insufficient.
