Maple Finance

SYRUP is the governance token of Maple, an onchain lender that funds loans to institutions and pays lenders the interest borrowers repay.

Maple Finance is an onchain asset manager and lending platform. Lenders deposit stablecoins or other assets into strategies, institutional borrowers such as market makers take loans from them, and lenders receive the interest those borrowers repay. Products such as syrupUSDC and syrupUSDT open the same lending yield to any user, and partners build it into their own apps.

SYRUP is the governance token of the Maple ecosystem. It replaced the older MPL token at 1 MPL = 100 SYRUP under proposal MIP-010. Holders vote on Snapshot on token distribution, the treasury, new products and contract upgrades. Staking rewards ended with MIP-019; since then 25% of protocol revenue goes to the Syrup Strategic Fund for SYRUP buybacks and the DAO balance sheet.

Maple reported August 2026 assets under management of $4.8B, loans outstanding of $1.7B and year-to-date revenue of $13.7M. Its contracts have been audited by several named firms, and its leadership is publicly known. In 2022 one lending pool lost most of its value when a borrower defaulted.
