eCash (XEC) is a Layer-1 digital cash network. It was created on 15 November 2020 as a fork of Bitcoin Cash and is developed by Bitcoin ABC, the team founded by Amaury Séchet.

Miners secure the chain with proof-of-work. On top of that, Avalanche staking nodes vote on transactions; since 15 November 2025 this pre-consensus gives finality in under 3 seconds. Node operators who stake at least 100 million XEC share 10% of each block reward. Another 32% funds protocol and ecosystem development under the Infrastructure Funding Policy, and miners receive 58%.

The maximum supply is 21 trillion XEC, and about 95.67% has been issued. The ecosystem includes the Cashtab wallet with a token DEX, PayButton for merchant payments and stablecoins issued by Firma.
