About Aster
ASTER is the token of Aster, a decentralized exchange mainly for leveraged perpetual futures trading.
Aster is a decentralized exchange where users trade from their own wallets. Its main business is perpetual futures: contracts with no expiry that let traders bet on price moves with borrowed money (leverage), up to 1001 times on Bitcoin. It also offers spot trading, stock and forex perpetuals, a prediction market and yield products. Aster grew out of APX Finance and Astherus, which merged in March 2025, and says it is backed by YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs.
ASTER is a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain with a fixed maximum supply of 8 billion. It launched on 17 September 2025. More than half of the supply (53.5%) is set aside for airdrops released over about seven years, 30% for the ecosystem, 7% for a locked treasury, 5% for the team and 4.5% for exchange liquidity. About 2.7 billion ASTER were circulating on 27 September 2026.
Since June 2026, Aster uses 99% of its daily platform fees to buy ASTER on the market. The bought tokens go to holders who lock ASTER in staking, and an equal amount is burned from reserves until the supply falls to 3 billion. About 204 million ASTER had been burned by 27 September 2026. Almost all of these fees come from perpetual futures trading.
Aster runs its own blockchain, Aster Chain, launched in March 2026 and built for derivatives trading. ASTER holders stake with its validators, who also vote on which markets to list. Parts of the chain are not open source, and in October 2025 the data site DefiLlama stopped showing Aster's futures volume over wash-trading concerns.
